Melissa and Ruben are a wonderful couple from Chicago who flew to Wine Country, just the two of them, to marry in Napa at the gorgeous Cedar Gables Inn in Napa. The Inn is one of the most amazing architectural wonders in Napa County. It was built as a private manse for a young couple in 1892 and it quickly became the center of the Napa social scene. Nearly the entire first floor was created to entertain, and entertain they did –and still do! The Cedar Gables Inn somehow combines turn-of-the-century glamour with an intimate atmosphere.
It was the perfect location for an elopement.
The original plan to have the wedding ceremony outside was thwarted with menacing clouds, so we moved the ceremony in-doors. The owners of the inn worked swiftly to create the perfect ambiance –not terribly difficult considering the architecture is already so spectacular. Kudos to innkeepers Ken and Susie for being amazing coordinators, hosts, and in a pinch—the perfect witnesses for the nuptials.
After the intimate wedding ceremony, we were able to sneak off before the rains, to one of my favorite locations for a shoot on a vineyard property complete with moody clouds and a windmill in the background. The photographs from this location are some of my favorite of the day.
