Sutter Health – Medical photography

I have been working with the Sutter Health System for quite some time now, and it has been a wonderful relationship.  They originally hired me to take photographs for their library, but the gig has turned into so much more.  I have had the opportunity to meet so many wonderful physicians from all across northern California, and to see them with their patients.  I am inspired by the passion they have for their work, and the compassion they show their patients.

I have made it my own personal mission to capture the closely knit relationship that grows between a physician and her patient (or his…)  I say that because my wife is a physician!  Telling this story can be challenging in the sterile environment of an operating room, but I use certain angles, compositions, and lighting to my advantage.

I was fortunate to be invited to photograph a brain surgery –I changed into scrubs and everything.   You can see me make a cameo appearance with camera in hand!  It was an inspiring day.

No matter what the environment, no matter what the challenge, I always find a way to capture people’s personalities, and their intimate connection.  This is the job of a photographer –not only do I capture life’s most exciting moments, but also the mundane and sometimes frightening moments as well.  It is in the times of trouble where people’s true self surfaces, and it is in these times when doctors and nurses become our closest allies and companions.  I think I have captured Sutter Health System’s passion for healthcare, and compassion for their patients.

Wine Country CrossFit of Napa Valley Photography

I have begun training at Wine Country CrossFit, and I’ll tell you what… this program is amazing.  Now I’ll be honest, I don’t exactly need to loose weight, but I do have aspirations to someday be a beast.  If anyone can help me, it’s Beth Rypins.  She’s a beast –and of course, I mean that in the very best way.  She’s a world champion white water rafter, and seriously, the first time she visited my house, she parked the car, and veered straight off the path and down to the creek in my backyard.  Somehow she was pulled to the water like a magnet.  What a piece of work!


Anyway, I have been working out with Wine Country CrossFit for a few months now, and I can really tell a difference.  Everyday, we do something different –there is no such thing as training boredom– my body works harder than I ever thought possible –to the point of utter exhaustion, and the results are fabulous.

Wine Country CrossFit hired me to photograph their trainers in action for their new website– and talk about beasts… they are all in insane shape.  Check out the fruits of their labor on their website.  Their marketing video is one of the coolest I’ve ever created.  Maybe next year I’ll be featured on their website –with my newly sculpted, monster body!!!

Photography at Silverado Dental Care in Napa

Silverado Dental Care in Napa, approached me to photograph their office and staff for their new website, and I was happy to accept. One of the photographs was featured on the cover of July’s issue of Napa Valley Marketplace Magazine!

The staff at Silverado Dental Care is so incredibly kind and personable, they make you feel right at home as soon as you walk in the door, and I must say… this is a first for me at a dental office!  The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the staff is not only nice to their patients they also seem to be the greatest of friends with each other.

Dr. Ringard is nothing short of professional, and so cool to work with.  The photographs from our day together reflect his style of care combining an eagle eye for precision, with good conversation and a smile.

Using the photographs taken the day of our shoot, I have created a video for them which can be used as a unique, marketing tool.  This video is a highlight in Silverado Dental’s newly revised website, and it can also be seen in their waiting room.  Their new and returning patients now have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the office, the staff, and their dentist.  Its a win-win for all –especially when you are as personable as Dr. Ringard!

Thanks Silverado Dental Care –I had a great time working with you!!!  Can’t wait for my next crown…
